Meeting topic: New Policy for Caring for Children with Specialized Needs
The Department of Children and Families has recently assessed the SHSP Program for our children who are designated as medically fragile and in out-of-home placement. A team comprised of resource parents, Foster and Adoptive Family Services (FAFS), and DCF staff worked together to explore how we can better meet the needs of medically challenged children as well as better utilize the skills of resource parents caring for them. These changes will ensure that children with medical needs requiring specialized care are better matched with families who are willing and capable of caring for them.
